WebTime: Keep tabs on your tabs
WebTime is a simple Chrome extension that helps you keep track of the time you spend on specific websites each day. With WebTime, you can configure a list of sites that you want to track and set a daily time limit.
The extension provides a colored icon in the toolbar, which changes from green to yellow, orange, and finally red, based on the time you spend on the listed sites. When you are on a listed site, the icon displays the total minutes you have spent on that site today. If you exceed your allocated time, an exclamation mark is added to the icon.
Personally, I find WebTime useful for monitoring my unproductive browsing habits. I have set my list to include websites that I usually visit when I'm bored, such as cnn.com and techcrunch.com.
WebTime prioritizes privacy as it runs only on your computer and does not send any data anywhere. It only knows the URL you have open. Additionally, WebTime is free and open source, which means you can access its source code on GitHub.
